Speaker: Ken Findley

Topic: Navigating the Title Opinion

Ken Findley is the named founder of the Findley Law Firm. He began focusing on Oil and Gas after completing law school at South Texas in 1977, joining Vinson and Elkins in their Real Estate and Title Opinion section. After working at Vinson and Elkins, he accepted a position as an in-house attorney with Aminoil USA in Houston, Texas. In this capacity, Mr. Findley handled a variety of issues ranging from analyzing burdensome Oil, Gas, and Mineral Leases, preparing Lease Analysis, and Lease Purchase Reports. He later moved away from the in-house position to manage a six-man lease broker team, handling tasks such as obtaining Oil and Gas Leases, preparing Runsheets, and performing curative in South Texas. Returning in house with Aminoil, Mr. Findley began to prepare Title Opinions until he opened his own office in Houston, Texas, where he continued to handle exclusively Oil and Gas matters and Title Opinions.

In 1982, Ken Findley relocated to Tyler, Texas, where he continued to develop his Oil and Gas practice. For several years, he worked exclusively on the preparation of Drill Site and Division Order Title Opinions for companies operating in the East Texas area. He worked closely with ARCO (Atlantic Richfield Company, now part of British Petroleum), and was the only approved attorney handling their Title Examination and Litigation.

Currently, Mr. Findley continues his Oil and Gas practice in Tyler, Texas, as well as handling Title Opinions in the Ohio Utica Shale in conjunction with the firm's Of Counsel Attorney, David Weimer.
