Raffle - NALTA 25th Annual Conference Registration (3) (15 Sep 2010)

DFW-ALTA is giving away three more two day scholarships to the NALTA Conference that will be held in New Orleans September 15-17 to our members. Each non-transferable registration will be for the Two Day Conference Session (Thursday and Friday), for a cost of $525.00 per registration (this includes Breakfast, Lunch and the Natchez Dinner Cruise). Hotel and transportation are not included.

If you would like to attend the NALTA Conference, and would like a chance to win a conference registration, please register to win by noon July 21, 2010. The winners will be announced the same day.

Winners will be required to register on-line for the Conference on the NALTA Website prior to July 28, 2010. Again, registrations are not transferable. If a winner cannot attend, the registration will go to the next registered member.

TOPIC: Shale Gas: “The Game Changer”

SPEAKER: Dr Ken Morgan

Dr. Ken Morgan obtained degrees in geology, civil engineering and resource management before starting his career at TCU in 1978 as a professor in the Geology Department. In 1981 he started and became Director of the TCU Center for Remote Sensing and Energy Research. While Director of this Center, he supervised research projects, taught classes, consulted with more than 70 companies and published numerous papers related to worldwide resource mapping and exploration.

Dr. Morgan has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East conducting conferences, workshops, seminars and guest lectures on the science and technology related to energy exploration. He was selected as a Distinguished Lecturer by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), has lectured and conducted workshops for the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and is a consultant to the Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratories. Ken has also received recognition awards from two NASA Shuttle Teams (STS 68 and STS 73) for geologic resource mapping.

In 2008, Dr. Morgan founded and became Director of the new TCU Energy Institute. In this roll, he is organizing new classes; seminars and workshops related to our energy resources ranging from the now famous Barnett Shale gas play to new technologies for future energy supplies and markets. He set up an Industry Board for his Institute made up of 24 energy companies and is on the Advisory Board and a guest writer for The Basin Oil & Gas Magazine. Ken is also Vice Chairman of the IPAA-Ft. Worth High School Energy Academy Advisory Board and Co-Chairs the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex NGV Consortium of 42 companies.

Topic: Marcellus Shale - Legal Issues and Proposed Legislation

Jorge Gutierrez

Jorge's practice focuses on natural resources law. He primarily represents energy companies operating in the upstream and midstream sectors, as well as service and supply companies. Prior to law school, Jorge enjoyed an eleven-year career in corporate and investment banking and corporate finance where he primarily advised companies in the oil and gas sector, with special emphasis on E&P, midstream, and service and supply companies. In that time, he advised over 20 clients in raising in excess of $2.0 billion in syndicated bank transactions.

Additionally, Jorge has experience in corporate mergers and acquisitions, having worked with the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of the former Banc One Capital Markets, where he advised business owners and executive officers on long-term, growth strategies. Jorge's industry experience includes the energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and commercial finance sectors.
